International travel

Helsinki-Vantaa international airport offers about 350 flights per day. These direct connections serve all major European cities and several Asian destinations (including Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Peking, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Xi’an, Hongkong, and Singapore). Our North American attendees will probably have to fly in through a major European hub (e.g., London, Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, or Amsterdam). There are train and bus connections to Helsinki city center that cost about 6 € (travel time about 45 min), and a taxi ride is about 45 € (travel time about 25 min). Participants are advised to arrive already on Saturday September 16th and to book one of the numerous hotels in Helsinki city center, such as the Sokos Hotel Vaakuna or Sokos Hotel Presidentti.
